Welcome on this website.
This website is about sailplane Göppingen Gö-4 II PH-178 which still survives today.
The aircraft was build in 1948 by the Fokker aircraft factory as the first of a batch of six Goeviers and got the Dutch registration PH-178.
In 1965 the Dutch registration was canceled and the glider went to the United Kingdom where she flew with the Royal Air Force Gliding Association (RAFGSA) as RAFGSA 258 and after that, still in the UK, she was registered as BGA1642.
In the 1990's the aircraft returned to the Netherlands and was put in storage.
In 2017 the sailplane was taken out of storage with the aim to restore her to flying condition again.
Unfortunately cold and moisture have left the plane in a sore state which means that to get her back in the air a complete rebuild of the wings and a full restoration of the rest of the aircraft is needed.
On this website we will report on the progress of the restoration and we will also try to publish as much of the history of PH-178 as we can find.
Unfortunately two members of the restoration team have died in 2020 and PH-178 has been donated to the Nationaal Transport Museum who will use it for static display.
